Kingsman 2: Filming in South East

Kingsman 2: Filming in South East…

Were you a fan of Matthew Vaughn’s 2014 spy comedy Kingsman: The Secret Service? If so, good news, filming of the sequel is due to begin in the South East of England as early as May this year with a release date set for June 2017.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the first film, here’s a quick plot summary for you…

Bright but rebellious young chav “Eggsy” (Taron Egerton) leaves Royal Marines training and walks straight into trouble. Arrested for car theft, he decides to call a number that was given to him (along with the message to use it if he ever needed help) after his father’s mysterious death. The number belongs to Harry Hart (played by Colin Firth), head of the Kingsman Secret Service.

Unknown to Eggsy, his father was also an agent, who in sacrificing his own life saved Harry’s years earlier. Harry sees super spy potential in Eggsy and offers him a chance to try out for the agency, just as a twisted genius is planning mass genocide…

The first film starred Mark Strong, Samuel L. Jackson, Sophie Cookson, Jack Davenport, Mark Hamill and Michael Caine. A full cast for Kingsman 2 is yet to be released but Mark Strong has confirmed that he will be back as senior Kingsman, Merlin.

Strong said: “ I know that they’re still tweaking and working on the script and they’re still getting casting into place. So it’s very exciting and I’m really looking forward to it.” Other names that have come up in association with Kingsman 2 include Julianne Moore as the villain.

Though there will be production taking place in South-East film studios, rumour has it that filming will also go ahead in more international locations, giving the sequel a slightly different feel to the first installment. Matthew Vaughn will direct again, with screenplay from he and Jane Goldman.
