Seated event norwich 2 15 September 2016

Epic Studios News

July was an exciting time at Epic Studios. Our auction event generated a lot of publicity after featuring on local TV and radio and we also found time to record a fascinating exclusive interview with owner Jonathan Thursby. He talked to us about the studio’s history and future; sister companies, Extreme Video & EV Offshore; his time working on BBC’s Top Gear and all of the associated memorabilia that was up for grabs, including the photographs shown below.

The purpose of the auction was to increase space for our thriving media hub and growing production calendar. We are proud that our tenants currently include the award-winning production company – Eye TV; top 10 UK University – UEA; ever-expanding, Ed Sheeran endorsed – Access to Music; speech & imaging solutions technology leader – Nuance; professional dubbing mixer – Andrew Swallow; No.1 UK student mag – Student Pocket Guide; international BFI credited film-maker – AJ Thursby and upcoming booking agency – Upsurge, to name a few!

With plans to increase dressing room spaces to 19 for upcoming projects, you can expect to read about some exciting TV production at the studios in the coming months. Meanwhile it’s business as usual and September has been a busy time so far, with lots still coming up to keep you entertained.

Earlier in the month we hosted the Norwich Jazz Club’s Jazz Weekender, a huge success. The event featured super smooth and cool son of Grammy Award winning Mel Tormé, James Tormé, in collaboration with the Tom Dunnet Big Band and Georgia Mancio & Alan Broadbent’s ‘Songbook’.

Last Friday 9th September, we were proud to host ‘Breaking Away, not Breaking Apart’, a public meeting convened by the UEA. This event was organised to encourage community discussions around strategies for more unity and inclusivity, and to counteract recent incidents of racist threats and violence. It featured a series of short presentations from academics, NGO representatives and policy-makers alongside Q&A sessions and discussions.

This weekend we welcome back WAW and film 3 televised shows with them to be aired on Mustard TV, Featuring the best names in UK wrestling the WAW events are always highly entertaining – a firm favourite with Epic staff and crew.
