Epic Studios treated music lovers to two top shows over the weekend and have been delighted with the feedback received since.
Acts featured were; emerging local band ‘New Scientists’ (students at music and media college Access To Music Norwich) and new wave / power pop band ‘The Vapors’ (probably best know for their incredibly successful 80s hit, ‘Turning Japanese’).
New Scientists came to the attention of Epic Studios’ live music manager Rick Lennox shortly after he made an announcement about seeking local talent to showcase alongside more established acts at Epic this February. He heard them play at Access To Music and immediately decided that they should have an opportunity to perform at the studios this year.
The young band of four (Billy, Jas, Robbie and Charlie), have since been described by Rick as, “one of Norwich’s finest new alternative rock bands” and they did not disappoint during their Friday night show. They gave a dynamic performance that drew a lively crowd of new music supporters to the studios – also the first to enjoy our brand new lay out and LED walls!
The Vapors followed on Saturday night, captivating audiences with their appearance in what has been described by music Journalist Pavlis of Outline Magazine as “a revelation”. You can read his entire review of the show here: The Vapors (Outline Magazine online).
Rick Lennox said that he thoroughly enjoyed the entire weekend, confirming: “Since joining Epic Studios at the beginning of the year, this has been my favourite weekend so far”.
The Vapors returned the compliment, saying of their experience here: “Great hospitality and great venue”, Likewise, New Scientists posted on Facebook following the gig: “Last night’s gig at Epic Studios was, well… EPIC!! …This was one of our best and favourite gigs! Great venue, great crowd, great support”.
