Regular readers will know that Epic Studios is not only a working TV studio and thriving music and sports events venue, it is also home to several highly respected creative businesses and institutions from the local area.
We are very proud of our media hub and have previously featured Epic Studios tenants: Andrew Swallow (prolific freelance dubbing mixer/sound designer, whose name you may have seen in the credits of Ben Fogle’s ‘Lives in the Wild’, ‘Come Dine With Me’ etc.) and Eddie Griffiths (founder of local independent music / events agency Upsurge) on the ES blog. Over the coming weeks, we are going to run a series introducing you to some of our other top tenants and giving information about some of Norfolk’s most exciting creative projects! EPIC STUDIOS MEDIA HUB Tenants
Access to Music – Access to Music is a music and media college based under our roof! This renowned creative education provider offers 16+ students access to excellent music/media-related resources, training and real-world work experience opportunities, not only in Norwich but across the UK. Patrons and partners include Ed Sheeran, Latitude Festival, Steinberg, Focusrite…and the list goes on.
Eye Film – Award-winning, independent and internationally operating production company Eye Film, has over 40 years of experience in the industry. They have been providing clients with high quality, engaging production since 1973. Eye Film produces everything from film and documentary to drama, advertisements and acclaimed corporate videos, with clients including BBC, Channel 4 and ITV1/Anglia TV. The company is also an aerial filming partner with our sister company Extreme Video.
Student Pocket Guide – Another award-winner, SPG produces the most popular student magazine in the UK. Company director, Ben Farrin, has been hitting the headlines as an innovative entrepreneur since his early 20s and has grown the pop culture mag from the ground up since its launch in 2005, with exclusive interviews, features, competitions and student discounts that continue to outshine the competition. AJ Digital – Photographer and cinematographer Alex Thursby works closely with Epic Studios editing all in-house productions and photographing/filming various high profile events. Freelance clients include Lamborghini, Bentley and Sunseeker.
Nuance – A team of engineers, linguists and experienced scientists who pioneer speech recognition, voice biometrics, speech enhancement, text to speech (TTS), natural language processing (NLP) and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, for work and recreation purposes. Yet another award-winning tenant, The Nuance team works collaboratively with companies such as Intel, DFKI and UPMC on various innovations in these specialist areas. They also provide internship opportunities for students from across the globe and sponsor research activities with the aim of improving voice biometrics technologies.
University of East Anglia – The UEA is ranked 12th (out of 129) in the 2017/18 UK league table and is a world top 1% leading research institution. It also ranked 3rd in the National Student Survey 2016. This prestigious university has a dedicated room at our studios, complete with recording booth and editing resources. Here it provides edit training for news VTs, radio packages and live TV studio production skill development as part of the UEA’s Practical Media & Broadcast Journalism MA courses.
