EPIC is based in the former Anglia TV production centre at Magdalen Street, Norwich. The site was purchased by Norfolk County Council with £1.2m funding from the East of England development Agency in spring, 2006. A further EEDA grant of £838,000 was obtained in December of that year, allowing the building to be extensively refurbished and re-equipped.

Its role is to promote the creative industries, but particularly content production, broadcast and communications industries, in Norwich, in Norfolk and the wider region. EPIC’s original steering group agreed the following ‘mission statement’:

“Our mission is to explore the possibilities of the digital age by:

  • Developing Norwich’s position as a centre of excellence for digital media in the region
Supporting new or existing media, communications and allied businesses operating here
Providing first class technical facilities for production and post-production
Producing the skilled digital creatives of the future through collaboration between industry and education.”
